Priecīgas Lieldienas!

We went up to two of my grandma's houses to celebrate. Yay! I had found another excuse to make a cake! I decided carrot cake would be fitting. This is what I came up with...

The first stop was to Grandma Jeanne's, my dad's mom. What a perfect first Easter experience for lil Will. She has some chickens and a bunny. Will was loving it. I was nervous he was going to get his fingers nipped off by the chickens because he kept poking those little sausages through the fence. He was a bit shocked and mesmerized by the bunny. AND..... He got his first grass stains! Dunno if I should be excited about that, but it was definitely memorable.

A couple of people commented on his mullet...I think it was a result of his collar...nevertheless...the next day I gave Will his first haircut. Meaning, I trimmed the back and sides that were nicely draping his ears.

Close Call

Today, while I was in a dressing room, trying on a certain garment in a certain store...Will had a very close call. I didn't have the stroller with me, so I was lugging Will around the mall on my hip. When I went into the dressing room, I put his blanket on the floor and set him on it. He was content watching himself in the mirror (one of his favorite activities). He rolled onto his tummy and a few moments later I heard him gagging. Nervous to see what disgusting thing he may have put in his mouth, I grabbed him and took a peek. I pulled out a shiny something to find out he was gagging on an OPEN SAFETY PIN!!!! My heart practically stopped. He didn't cry and I didn't see blood, so I hugged him and chalked it up to a VERY close call.

Army Babe

Will has been "crawling" for almost a week now. He has his own little way of crawling. All who see it say it looks like an army crawl. Since I don't have much experience with army crawling, I will describe it in my own words. He lays on one side, uses his head for leverage, pushes up with one knee and scoots forward. Then does the same thing on the other side, with the other side of his head and other leg. It's really pretty amusing. He still gets round much better by rolling, which is his preferred method anyways.

Here is a video of the first time.

Mr. Poopy Pants

It's been a week and 2 days now of constant pooping. Poor william has been having such nasty poops. Maybe not the most glamorous thing to blog about, but, hey, that's life. It started last thursday...maybe wednesday...it's all a blur. Grandma, that looks weird when it's in writing, "Grandma"...hmmm, maybe grannie linnie...grandma linn...the grandma title is still up in the air. Anyways, my mom left for a St. George golfing trip with the girls on thursday. So, the nurse of the house was gone for the worst of the pooping escapade. It was really worrying me. Every diaper we changed was wet with what seemed to be baby diarrhea (sorry for you weak-stomach-readers out there). And we were changing diapers every hour.

Well, that went on for a week and today we decided (with the help from the local nurse, haha) to stop giving him juice. It seems to be getting better already.

The worst part about this whole thing is that poor helpless little Will has been getting sores on his bum. So bad they even bled sometimes. He would cry and cry when we wiped his sore little bum. I wanted to cry, and sometimes did, because I felt like such a bad mom. And i could see in his sad little eyes what he was thinking "why are you doing this to me, mom?"

I'm sure this is the first of just a lifetime of things that I will feel powerless over, but man...I don't like it.
