Change?

I'm no good with change. I realized that mostly on my mission. It was always hard to leave friends in an area. I'm even worse with goodbyes. No, I don't usually cry. I think that's why I'm so bad with them. I don't show much emotion at all and it's really not like a goodbye at all.

Well, on saturday I had to say goodbye to the group of missionaries I have been teaching for the past 9 weeks (except for a 3 week break when william came.) This group has been wonderful. Each missionary has a very different personality, but I loved them all. They were all truly striving to serve the Lord with all their heart, might, and mind. Every week I had a chance to sit down with them and discuss their concerns and goals. I grew close to them as they expressed their weaknesses, hopes, and questions with me. I know that each of them are called of God to serve in Latvia. They are going to touch many lives. I hope that I was able to help them, even a little, as they prepared to serve these people.

Bath + Baby = Bliss

So, here is the low down on the evolution of lil will's bath experience:

Newborn: sponge bath while laying on a towel. Liked the hair wash. Hated the body wash.

Post-umbilical cord: mini-bath in tiny tub. Too small for him. Didn't mind body wash. Loved hair wash.

Upgrade to bigger tub: Room to kick. Really enjoyed bath time. Frequent smiles.

Big people tub: Lots of smiles and kicking. Pure bliss.

We tried something new last night. After my shower, i donned a swimming suit and filled up the big jacuzzi tub in my parents room. I took will in with me and he absolutely loved it. Andrew taught him how to kick in the water. He was a natural!
Another plus: he slept 8 hours last night. I think we're going to add this to our nightly bed-time preparations. Yay!

Lightning Pose

I hear that the thing you wanna do when in a lightning storm is to put your bum in the air. At least, that's what they say on "Twister." If that's true, my lil will is well prepared. I looked into his bassinets the other day to see this...

I laughed out loud and grabbed the camera. What a great sleeping position. Look at how his little frog legs are tucked right up under him. Have you ever seen a cuter bum sticking up in the air? Man, i love this little guy! And, not just because he's cute.

It's a Celebration

We decided to celebrate the momental graduation day. After much debate, we finally decided on going to the Drive-In. (A large part of the decision was the fact that I had to work at the MTC in the evening). Andrew, Hannah, Lil Will, and I loaded up the truck and headed off to the Drive-In. We saw the movie "Despicable Me." It was a cute movie, but the experience is the best part. Andrew hooked up a sweet sound system for the event, we took dinner, and all the pillows and blankets we own. It was a great way for a family with a little one to enjoy a movie. I'm still a little shaky about taking William to the theatre...honestly, I don't know if they allow babies there. Even though we didn't get to bed till 3 am, it was a great way to celebrate my big day.

Hannah and Will looked so cute, so I decided to take a picture. The light blinded hannah and this is what we got.

The Big Day

For as long as I can remember, I looked forward to the day I was a college graduate. All the hard work I've done in school was geared towards making this day possible. Well, last week the day actually came. I am now a graduate from BYU. I majored in Physical Science Teaching. Not only was it such a big day for me because I was graduating, but I also was asked to speak at graduation. This was quite overwhelming, as well as quite an honor. For those of you who weren't able to make it to the ceremony and requested a copy of my speech, here it is...

Graduation Speech

The best part of the ceremony was being able to carry my little will with me as I received my diploma. Even though I put 15 years of hard work for my diploma, I am much more proud of this wonderful little boy.

Baby Daddy

Well after a little prodding from Ellie, I am finally taking a step into the world of blogging.

All I can say is that it has been a crazy year and a half. But it's been great and just keeps getting better. The mission being the "best two years of life" was sure short lived.

I still can't really believe I'm a father. I still feel like a kid. It's so strange to walk around pushing a stroller or carrying a carseat, especially since most of my friends aren't even married, but at the same time it is great. My son is awesome. I've always liked kids, but newborns and infants were never as much fun. Will is so great though. He just sits and makes a million different faces at you. He never looks the same. The best is when he sneezes. The sneezes are pretty intense for such a little body so he compensates by yelling before the sneeze. It's so funny! We try so hard to get it on film, but he is careful to wait until right after we set the camera down. Even better is when he is about to sneeze and it doesn't come. It builds and builds and he starts to yell and then he gets this very confused look on his face and then "YA!". You'd just have to see it. We haven't caught the second one on film yet.

My last favorite is imagining what he's going to be like when he's a bit older. I'm not trying to rush him, cause this stage is fun, but today while I was playing basketball I was imagining teaching him to play. He's gonna be shooting a basketball before he eats solid foods. He already has sweet Nike shoes and today I wanted to stop and get him a ball and hoop, but I think I'll wait a bit until he realizes he has hands and feet.... it must be so confusing to feel yourself slap your own face and not be able to do anything about it.

Time to Care

It's time to start caring about my appearance again...it's been awhile. First thing on the list, my hair (It's actually not the first thing on the list, but it's the only thing I can control right now. I'm considering getting a perm. This is how i want it to look...

My hair vaguely resembles these pictures when it's wet or when I take it out of my usual bun. But, there's always some straight parts or some frizzy parts, or just craziness.

Am I dreaming, or could my hair actually do this? Can I pull it off? Or will it just be another too-big-80's-style-perm?

My Little Magician

I think we misnamed our little William. If we would have been in tune, I think Houdini would have been the name of choice. The other day when I woke up to my little boy, I couldn't help but laugh and wonder..."how?" When we put him to bed, we dress him in a cute little nighty-the kind that cover their hands and that pull down all the way over their feet. It's kinda like a dress, but the top resembles a straight jacket. On top of this restraint, we wrap him in a blanket so that there's no possibility of movement. So, naturally, I had to laugh when I woke up to this...

Somehow the little devil wriggled his arm free from the blanket and out of the baby proof nighty...ya gotta love the little guy.

Here are some other pictures I caught that morning. Just thought you'd like to see some of the faces he makes. Now can you understand why I can stare at this little guy for hours and never get bored.
